Presenting Change

This project was a good learning experience and allowed our group to gain insight on placement issues and how the nurses feel about this issue. I think that our project will allow for many listeners and can be a good educational tool. Our topic may not be preventable, but we felt that it was necessary to bring light to the subject of placement issues in the hospital, specifically on R2. For me, this project educated me on placement and I was able to gain insight from many nurses on the floor. I feel that this will help me in the future to know what I can do as a nurse to help prevent long term stays. I think that completing this project helped me to understand the role long term placement plays in a hospital and the effect it has on staff and the patient.

I feel that the audience that will see this podcast will benefit from hearing about others experiences and may get ideas about how to care for patients. I think that our podcast allows for further conversation to occur and possible changes to happen. I think that for this podcast to reach R2 will help so that they can recognize these placement issues and use this podcast to further educate themselves and other staff members. We are still awaiting feedback on how this podcast affected staff members on R2. I am curious to see what they think of the podcast!

Overall, I feel that as a team we worked very well together to complete this project and get information about patient placement that is relevant. We all played a role in this project and I feel that we will spread this information and inform those in healthcare about this issue. I think that creating a podcast was a good choice because people will be able to listen to many different nurses speak about their experiences. I think that this project helped us to understand placement in a way that will be very useful in the future. I personally feel that I gained a lot from this project because it was interactive and allowed me to learn more about placement in different ways.

  1. I love the interview format of your project! It was awesome to listen to a variety of nurse’s speak their own experiences about prolonged hospital stay patients. Your questions were great because they guided the nurses in explaining the various reasons for prolonged hospital stay. It was interesting to hear how some nurses have burnout and other’s enjoy the continuity of patient stay and getting to know the patients. The project also aligns well with your project proposal and follows along with the aim of your project. Great job!
