After doing this exercise, I noticed little patterns in my writing. When I was searching for transitions, I realized that I usually use small transition words can that sometimes make my writing unclear. The transitions that I found the most in my writing were “but” and “so.” These words do not offer much detail, in order for these transitions to be effective, the writing must be very understandable. I did use pointing words in my writing, such as, “this” and “it.” When reading, these terms are pretty easy to understand because I make it clear as to what “this” is and what “it” is in my writing. I do think that there could be confusion if the writing does not clearly state was “this” is and what “it” is. Lastly, I am very repetitive in my writing, so it was not hard to find repeating key terms. I think that this is a negative in my writing because there are other words I could use instead of repeating myself. I read about repeating with difference in writing, I did not find myself doing this in my writing. I think that in my writing I rely on repetition of key terms and using transitions. I feel that I have benefitted from this reading because I now know what little things I can do to make my writing more interesting and understandable.
